The Primary Relationship

Most spiritual types say the most important relationship is with your soul, but I disagree. Your relationship with your soul is a given, because your soul, and Higher Self, are simply other parts of you. You will never lose touch with them, in this life or the next, regardless of whether or not you can communicate consciously with them. Your most important relationship is with your body. The body is playing host to your Higher Mind. Are you a good guest?

The ego mind is simply an interface. It allows us to have a physical experience, while still being open to the Higher Mind. The ego is essential and totally misunderstood, but it should never be in charge. Mentally, the ego is like a toddler – prone to fits, demanding its own way, and trying to get into everything, even at physical risk. Toddlers and egos need supervision and guidance. Both need direction, without abuse.

The problem our society has come to is simply that we encourage the ego-self to set the course. This situation is harmful to all involved, including the ego. The body is of nature, the Higher Mind is of Spirit, and the ego is only here as an interface. The body (nature) is suffering the most in this ego-driven world.

As an example most are familiar with, lets look at alcohol. We are told that alcohol consumption is normal. Every movie and television show I can think of includes drinking, especially if the character is wealthy or having fun. The ego loves money and fun, so it keeps this story. Meanwhile, the body suffers with every drink. Alcohol causes 2.8 million deaths per year worldwide. To put that in perspective, Covid killed 1.8 million worldwide in 2020. In a world of 8 billion people those numbers aren’t big. I’m more concerned here with quality of life issues.

The feeling of happiness has been tied to the gut microbiome. Alcohol consumption is harmful to the microbiome. Many are trading a fleeting hit of dopamine for long-term lower happiness. The ego just believes whatever story is most fun at the time, so our Higher Mind is required to discern what’s best for the health of our host body.

Life Hack – take the next six months to drop all alcohol, smoking, and optional drugs (including marijuana), and truly build a relationship with your body. Talk to your body, and let it know you are listening. Treat it as you would a generous host, because that’s what it is. Give your body love, support, and attention. This will be a game-changer.

The relationship with your body is the primary relationship that all other relationships spring from. Do you take your body for granted? However you treat your body, you will either express or receive the same thing in other relationships. If your relationship with your body is lacking in any way, reality will keep bringing that lack to your door, until you shift. We are all mirrors for each other.

The human superpower is to combine heaven and earth, Spirit and Body. Don’t give away half your power by taking your body for granted. On top of that, the physical experience is much more enjoyable working with your body, rather than against it.

Thank you, Natha! I love this direct call to be present for our bodies. If we honor our bodies as sacred gifts, the Earth could be healed as well.

  3. Great question: “are you a good guest?” I’m not fond of fear based motivations, but it’s very clear to me that after 20 years of dissolute living, and 30 years of mitigation through healing movement, if you’re not a good guest you will be ejected – with prejudice 😂
