Vows and Archetypes

If you are on Earth right now you have been around the block a few times. At some point, in time or dimension, many of us have been in a religious order, taking vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. The vows taken at that point in our journey just aren’t helpful now, but they sure have sticking power. Time for something new. It’s always good to revisit our assumptions.

I recommend doing some kind of ritual, or at least declaring the old vows have been completely fulfilled, then take on some new vows. Why take new vows? To fill the old space. I’ve played with deleting the old vows, and just refilling with intentions, but it felt hollow. Feel free to play with the concept to find what works for you.

Some possible new vows…
I take a VOW of ABUNDANCE, opening to the abundant flow of life
I take a VOW of GENEROSITY, sharing my abundance with others
I take a VOW of SELF-STEWARDSHIP, protecting my body and focusing my mind
I take a VOW of PERSONAL GROWTH, encouraging maturity and inner change over time
I take a VOW of JOY, meeting life’s unpredictability with curiosity and wonder
These are the ones that come up for me. Please leave some of your ideas in the comments. I always love to see what others are thinking!

On to Archetypes… Our archetypes are seriously outdated. My mom used to say when people got married two people entered the church, but three came out – husband, wife, and the archetype of marriage. Just think about that for a minute. No wonder everything changes when you get married, and not in a good way. The old archetype of marriage is all about ownership and obligation. No one wants that at this point. We need an archetype of partnership, or family.

I’m not sure how to change archetypes, except by changing the stories we tell ourselves. We sure do love our stories! Any thoughts on what needs to happen here? I’m sure someone out there can write new bedtime stories!

    Thanks NathaJay

I had a very clear lucid dream recently involving the personal validity of performing a ritual so you are right “on the money” with your suggested directions.

I also have a strong memory involving a bunch of lost keys (perhaps I accidentally locked everyone in (or out)) or maybe just from the monastery wine cellar! in a previous life which has carried through to an abnormal fear of responsibility with any large set of keys in this one, the association of which I can feel strongly in my body. I must have been particularly irresponsible!

Your emails are getting through “loud and clear” by the way.

    Much love

    Bob (in Australia)🦘
